Reactive Strength Index (RSI)
Involves repeated jumping to determine how quickly an athlete can produce force. The index represents jump flight time divided by ground contact time and is highly correlated with sport performance tasks such as sprinting speed. Measured electronically using ForceDecks from VALD, the Laser Contact Grid by MuscleLab, or a sensor from OUTPUT sports.
Standing Vertical Jump
Measures the athlete's ability to generate power and jump vertically into the air. Results are recorded in centimeters using ForceDecks from VALD, the Laser Contact Grid by MuscleLab, or a sensor from OUTPUT sports.
2-Minute Push Up Test
Assesses upper-body strength and endurance. Each repetition requires the chest to touch a 2-inch raised target, then finish with arms completely extended. The athlete may rest but must maintain four-point contact (hands and feet only) at all times for the full 2 minutes.
Pro Agility (5-10-5)
A commonly used test among the NFL, NBA, and NHL. It measures the athlete's ability to accelerate and change direction over a 5-yard, 10-yard, and 5-yard section. Electronically timed using the VALD SmartSpeed System, recorded to the hundredth of a second. Performed for both right and left directions.
30 Meter Sprint
May be performed from either a standing start or a downward 3-point start. The athlete sprints as fast as possible over 30 meters. Electronically timed using the VALD SmartSpeed System, with results recorded to the hundredth of a second.
Nordic Curl
Assesses eccentric hamstring strength and control. The athlete kneels while a partner holds their ankles, then lowers their torso forward as slowly as possible, resisting the descent using their hamstrings. Duration is recorded in seconds, reflecting the athlete's ability to control eccentric loading.
